"The Lake Garda sailing conditions are first class and this one of the most popular things to do
on the lake"

A quick tour round the top of the lake soon confirms Lake Garda sailing to be one of the favourite pastimes here. If you look at the harbours each end of Riva, you will see hundred of yatchs moored up. The north of the lake is the best place to be for sailing, as the predictable winds and stunning surrounding make it sailing heaven!

Lake Garda sailing

Riva is probably the most popular spot to start sailing from, but the whole top end of the lake is great for sailing and provides the best conditions. There are yatchs all over the lake though and you will also see a good number in places like Desenzano too, so don't think you have to be in one place to enjoy the sailing here. You will find all types of sailing boats out on the lake from dinghy's, up to large old fashioned wooden ships used for charters. The sailing here is so good that you also get internationally recognised races being held here from spring to autumn time.

Just packing up for the day at Riva

Lake Garda is the ideal place to learn to sail and as such there are a selection of places which offer boat hire and tution. There are dinghy courses for children and also for beginners, dinghy performace lessons, tution for sailing in strong winds, beginner catamaran sailing and also advanced courses too. There are many different types of boats you can also hire.

You often see small groups of 3 to 6 boats being tutored on the lake and sailing here is really enjoyable. If you never tried it before Lake Garda is the ideal place to start. If you are an expert sailor then you will love the challenge this lake will give you too!

"Hi. Just a quick word of thanks for the site, which was a marvellous resource in planning my trip to Malcesine. The ferry timetables were useful for planning trips around the Lake (I went to Riva and Limone) and the breadth of information available is fantastic. Thank you."
