No car needed at Lake Garda
by: Judy Wolfe

The charm of Lake Garda is being able to get from city to city without using a car. Stay in a hotel along the lungolago area of one of several cities, then hop on a boat to go to other towns. Bus transportation is less expensive and just as convenient. Both modes of transportation are great. But, of course, arriving by boat is breathtaking.
If you base yourself in Desenzano you can also use the train to other non-lake cities (Milan, Verona, Venice.) If you stay in Salo, you can actually walk to Gardone Riviera, or take a boat to Maderno (my favorite) for the day. Or take a bus from Salo to Toscolano on a Thursday morning, enjoy the great market there, then walk to Maderno for lunch and a day at the Lido or a hike to Montemaderno. Lake travel is extensive. Check out the boat day passes that allow you to go to 3 or 4 cities in one day. Unlimited possibilities to see the many beautiful towns that make up Lake Garda. Enjoy!
